- Análise comparativa do USALI, USAR e USFRSPublication . O objetivo geral é estabelecer a comparação entre o USALI (Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry), o USAR (Uniform System of Accounts for the Restaurants) e o USFRS (Uniform System of Financial Reporting for Spas), de forma a proporcionar uma base de análise para os gestores, no sentido da obtenção de vantagens competitivas.

This study analysed the scientific productions on technological innovation in the tourism sector using literature review and bibliometric analysis techniques, with data collected from the main databases of international relevance, Web of Science and Scopus. This study presents the mapping and cluster structures for the trends and dynamics of the investigations on the discovered research themes using the VOSviewer software. The results indicate that research related to innovation and technology in tourism has evolved in recent years, as well as highlighting the main areas of activity and presenting contributions to possible future lines of research.
- Ascertaining Restaurant Financial Sustainability by Analyzing Menu PerformancePublication . Gomes, Conceição; Malheiros, Cátia; Lima Santos, Luís; Campos, Filipa Alexandra Gomes deThe complexity of companies in the restaurant industry is clear, and various techniques can be used to make decisions. The analysis of performance and the optimization of restaurant menus are considered important, which is why several approaches can be used. The objective of this study is to achieve financial sustainability in the restaurant industry through menu performance analysis and identifying strategies to improve menu profitability. A qualitative methodology of a dual case study was adopted by comparing a restaurant within a hotel and a street restaurant. The results show that for restaurant owners and managers, these approaches are useful, simple, and pertinent for measuring the performance of the restaurant menu and consequently improving results. The originality of this research lies in the fact that three analysis models were applied simultaneously, allowing for an in-depth analysis of the profitability of the menus being analyzed. This study identified the most profitable items for each restaurant and the items that needed to be changed to contribute more to the profitability of the restaurant’s menu, resulting in practical implications. Through theoretical implications, this study corrects the limited knowledge about performance through the restaurant menu, creating a starting point for knowledge spreading to society. In conclusion, this research is one of the first to bridge the gap between theory and practice, taking several approaches to assess restaurant menu performances, which can be useful in restaurants to promote sustainability.
- Attitudes of Local Population Towards the Impacts of Tourism Development: Evidence From CzechiaPublication . Linderová, Ivica; Scholz, Petr; Almeida, NunoIncreasing the socio-economic effects caused by the tourism development in the local population, they adopt some attitudes according to the impacts directly or indirectly perceived. However, some of this impact can be considered positive or negative, according to different perspectives. The issue of the resident-tourist relationship has been much-discussed recently. Therefore, many case studies are being conducted that address the impacts on both residents and tourists. The goal of this manuscript is to analyze the attitudes of local residents to the development of tourism in the urban monument zone Předhradí. Primary data were collected in a questionnaire survey for residents who have a permanent residence in a municipality of Předhradí in 2020. In our research, we tried to identify the significant negative impacts of tourism development. In the same way, we evaluate how the locals see positive effects on their quality of life conducted with tourism development. The research finds out that local respondents perceived some negative impacts to increase the economic perspective, as they referred to in the higher traffic load or increased noise. The pandemic crises are perceived as a game-changer in the tourism industry. For that reason, we suggest the primary considerations for future research not only with the academic perfective as for the practical point of view. The local population’s entrepreneurship attitudes must be one of the tools to assume the resilience toward the tourism development impacts.
- Avaliação das empresas hoteleiras em função do VALPublication . Carrera, Carla; Gomes, Conceição; Lima Santos, LuísThe scope of the paper is the study a set of hotel companies placed in Lisbon, Portugal, which are grouped into "hotels with restaurant" and "hotels without restaurant". Taking into account the services available, the main objective is to compare the companies’ value, using the net present value (NPV) criteria, which is one of the main criteria used to analyse the feasibility of investments and to determine the companies’ value. In specific terms, it is intended to ascertain whether the existence of a restaurant in the hotel allows its value to increase; which services increase the companies’ value; and whether the official star rating influences the hotel's value. The research methodology is descriptive because it is intended to study the characteristics of a group of companies. Multiple case studies are used to make a convincing research and to allow comparability. Companies’ financial data was collected from the SABI Bureau van Dijk’s database. The results show that the group of hotel companies studied are economically feasible. On the other hand, hotel companies with a restaurant have a higher NPV compared to hotel companies without a restaurant.
- Bibliometric Analysis of Key Variables in Tourism: Destination, Competitiveness, Image, Quality, and Tourist Satisfaction (2000–2023)Publication . Pereira, José Marques; Almeida, Paulo; Almeida, Giovana Goretti FeijóIn the scientific literature on tourism, a set of variables is frequently utilized. The objective of this study is to analyze the scenario of scientific publications on these variables between 2000 and 2023. This analysis employs a bibliometric approach, utilizing data collected from the Scopus database. The bibliometric method was employed, with a focus on five variables (tourism destination, competitiveness, image, quality, and satisfaction) and five indicators (author, year, country, journal, and affiliation) essential for mapping research patterns and identifying key trends in the field of tourism. The findings demonstrate that the five variables under examination are inherently interrelated. The image of the destination is of particular importance, as it influences the quality of life of residents and the experiences of tourists, which in turn affects the competitiveness of the destination. The results also demonstrate the multidimensional nature of these variables in shaping tourism destination dynamics. This study underscores the value of bibliometric analysis as a strategic tool for synthesizing and deepening tourism literature. The findings not only highlight the primary research contributions and trends but also identify gaps and opportunities for future research, thereby promoting continuous advancement in tourism knowledge and best practices.
