- Determinants of loyalty toward Booking.com brandPublication . Marques, Alzira; Cruz, Raquel SilvaRelations "customer - supplier" are increasingly more valuable and less consistent, especially in the online context. In this sense, the supplier seeks to make a website visitor into a satisfied customer and a satisfied customer into a loyal customer as a condition to become more competitive. Understanding what determines the loyalty of an online customer and the role of satisfaction and trust in this relationship is the main purpose of this research. So, based on information gathered through a questionnaire in a sample of 104 customers of the Booking.com portal, we performed a quantitative study, transversal and exploratory, in order to study the relationship between the variables: website characteristics, personality of online consumers, e-satisfaction, e-trust and brand loyalty to Booking.com. The results showed that the personality of Booking.com customers and e-satisfaction are able to explain customers’ loyalty toward Booking.com brand.
- Produção científica sobre os temas Governança Corporativa e Stakeholders em periódicos internacionaisPublication . Ribeiro, Henrique César Melo; Costa, Benny Kramer; Ferreira, Manuel Portugal; Serra, Bernardo Paraíso de CamposEste artigo investigou a produção científica em Governança Corporativa e Stakeholders em periódicos internacionais, pesquisando o perfil das publicações e o seu padrão de crescimento, no período de 1990 a 2011. Este estudo assenta-se numa pesquisa bibliométrica e sociométrica, utilizando-se de estatística descritiva em 286 artigos identificados. Os resultados mostraram que houve um crescimento dos trabalhos a partir de 2003; Filatotchev, Rose e Miller são os autores mais prolíferos; Jensen e Meckling, e Donaldson e Preston , os pesquisadores mais citados; a rede de coautoria tem baixa interação; e existe uma centralidade da rede de cocitação. Concluiu-se, neste estudo, que a integração do tema Governança Corporativa com a temática Stakeholders, por meio dos estudos analisados, ou seja, as boas práticas, por meio de seus mecanismos, têm relação direta com a Teoria de Stakeholders, sendo também recíproco. De uma maneira geral, este estudo contribuiu para o melhor entendimento e compreensão do conhecimento sobre os temas Governança Corporativa e Stakeholders em conjunto, sob a ótica das publicações dos periódicos internacionais, para os pesquisadores seriors e, principalmente, para futuros pesquisadores. Além disso, favoreceu, também, o surgimento e/ou aperfeiçoamento de grupos de pesquisa sobre as temáticas investigadas.
- A New Approach for Schematics for Public Transport Spider MapsPublication . Ribeiro, João Tiago; Rijo, Rui Pedro Charters Lopes; Leal, AntónioThis research aims to create a new approach for spider maps production that results in a fast and automatic method having as input only network location data. Schematization task is commonly done by hand or by purely graphics software. This is a difficult and time consuming task that also needs a skilled map designer, which results in an expensive outcome. A configurable force-directed algorithm allows fast creation of eyepleasing schematic maps, avoiding labor-intensive manual arrangement. In the other hand, different sets of design rules and constraints may be used to quickly generate alternatives, and allow the configuration of a distinctive graphic style. This document presents some of the rules and constraints that may be used to output a map that meets certain criteria in order to be used as a spider map in transportation systems. We present results with real public transport network datasets, and discuss possible evaluation criteria. The present work introduces a new set of experimental validations that confirm the previous research but also leading to new open issues for future work.

- Rate control for unbalanced multiple description video streamingPublication . Correia, Pedro; Assuncao, Pedro; Silva, VitorUnbalanced multiple description coding (U-MDC) of video signals aims to obtain different coding rates for transmission over channels with asymmetric available bandwidth. This paper proposes a new rate control method, based on Multiple Description Scalar Quantisation (MDSQ), to generate unbalanced descriptions for asymmetric multipath video streaming. A new set of index assignment tables combined with an extension of the ρ model is devised to generate two unbalanced descriptions with controlled rate, using U-MDC under the general coding framework of H.264/AVC. This work demonstrates that a linear relationship between the rate and percentage of zeros in the transform coefficients of each description is maintained across different description domains, i.e., when moving from the single description domain (SDC) into the MDC domain. The simulation results show that rate-distortion performance of U-MDC is better than its equivalent balanced MDC. The proposed rate control algorithm exhibits high accuracy in achieving different target bitrates and unbalanced ratios between two descriptions. Improved performance is also achieved in video streaming over asymmetric transmission paths, where each description rate can be adapted according to different channel conditions.
- A new electric conductance conversion method suitable for very low power applicationsPublication . Despite being designed to meet specific measurements requirements, this converter is intended for applications where device power requirements are determinative such self powered sensors networks and implantable devices. The topology is described and an implementation is presented. Results show the possibility of being powered by a single 1.2 V accumulator cell with a consumption of 8 nJ per conversion.

S.The "shear-friction theory" was adopted in design codes to predict the longitudinal shear strength between parts of concrete members cast at different times. This is a relevant subject for different situations, such as the connection between precast members with castin- place parts and strengthening of existing reinforced concrete (RC) members with a new concrete layer. The bond strength of the interface is controlled by parameters such as the substrate roughness, curing conditions, and the material strength and stiffness of both concrete layers, among others. Some of these for example, differential shrinkage due to different curing conditions, and differential stiffness due to the difference in the Young's modulus of each layer are not addressed in codes. This paper presents recommendations and proposes an alternative design approach for concrete-to-concrete interfaces that can be adopted in future revisions of ACI 318 and Eurocode 2. A comparison between ACI 318 and Eurocode 2 is presented.

- A Novel Time-Domain CAD Technique Based on Automatic Time-Slot Division for the Numerical Simulation of Highly Nonlinear RF CircuitsPublication . Ferreira, David; Oliveira, Jorge F.; Pedro, José C.This paper presents a new computer-aided design tool specifically developed for the efficient time-domain simulation of strongly nonlinear heterogeneous RF circuits whose stimuli are turned off for unknown periods of time, hence leaving the systems in a natural response state. The proposed technique is implemented in a completely different approach in comparison to the techniques previously published in the literature. It is based on a time-slot division strategy with automatic switching between different algorithms along the simulation process. Significant gains in computational speed over commercial simulation tools are reported without compromising the accuracy of the results, as this technique takes advantage of the unknown on-off state of the stimulus, while commercial tools would have to rely on classical SPICE-like simulation methods.
