  • Health risk of adolescents in the rural and urban environment: integrative review

    Young people have specific health risks whether they live in a rural environment or in an urban environment. It was intended with this integrative literature review to identify the specific health risks of young people in rural and urban settings. To achieve this, we carried out an integrative review of the literature on EBSCO databases, PROQUEST, Mendeley, B-ON, from February 2018 to May 2018, having the selection criteria articles published between 2002 and 2018 so that we identify recent studies that reveal actual risks. The results allowed us to identify a very varied set of risk behaviours in both rural and urban settings. Most of the studies analysed had a transversal design, anthropometric evaluations were performed to evaluate health status. Interesting findings resulted, namely young people in rural areas are exposed to additional and more varied risks than urban ones, requiring greater supervision and follow-up by health professionals. These findings can help to define practices more directed to real risks. Although health authorities are aware of some risks to which young people are subjected, studies report little or nothing has been done to protect them, so we believe that it is urgent to create health policies that are appropriate for each environment to safeguard them.
  • Construção e Validação da Escala de Educação Terapêutica para o Comportamento de Autocuidado na Diabetes

    Enquadramento: A adoção de comportamentos para o autocuidado por parte da pessoa com diabetes é determinante nos resultados, sendo a educação para o autocuidado uma intervenção de enfermagem eficaz neste sentido. Objetivos: Construir e validar a Escala Educação Terapêutica para o Comportamento de Autocuidado à Pessoa com Diabetes (ETCAD). Metodologia: Estudo metodológico, com amostra de 104 enfermeiros que trabalham em cuidados de saúde primários. Para a construção e validação da escala seguiram-se as guidelines internacionais. Resultados: Os resultados da análise da fidelidade das 6 dimensões: alimentação saudável, manter-se ativo, monitorização, medicação, resolução de problemas e coping saudável e redução dos riscos, apresentam valores de α de Cronbach que variam entre 0,768 e 0,933. As matrizes de correlação (p>0,001) e as medidas de Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin superiores a 0,7 em todas as dimensões/subescalas garantem a adequação razoável do modelo fatorial de cada dimensão (subescala). Conclusão: A escala multidimensional é válida e fiável para avaliar a frequência com que os enfermeiros realizam educação terapêutica sobre os comportamentos de autocuidado à pessoa com diabetes.
  • Technology-mediated training programs for school health teams on special health care needs: a scoping review

    Objective: To map technology-mediated training programs for school health teams thataddress special health needs in the school environment and to identify their characteristics.Method: The review followed the JBI methodology. Eight databases were searched forpublished and gray literature. Studies published in Portuguese, English or Spanish since2000 were included to capture emerging training programs. Results: Of the 1,106 studiesidentified, 29 were reviewed in full and eight were included in the final analysis. All studieswere carried out in the United States of America. Program topics included chronic healthconditions such as diabetes, asthma, procedures, as well as emergency situations, all aimed atschool nurses and based on a conceptual or pedagogical framework. The programs includedthematic modules of various lengths and offered online and hybrid training through variousdigital educational resources. Conclusions: Programs focused on chronic health conditionsand assessed professionals' knowledge, skill development, self-efficacy, and confidence; fewstudies provided a detailed exploration of the underlying pedagogical models and did notuse formative assessment.
