The scope of the paper is the study a set of hotel companies placed in Lisbon, Portugal, which are grouped into "hotels with restaurant" and "hotels without restaurant". Taking into account the services available, the main objective is to compare the companies’ value, using the net present value (NPV) criteria, which is one of the main criteria used to analyse the feasibility of investments and to determine the companies’ value. In specific terms, it is intended to ascertain whether the existence of a restaurant in the hotel allows its value to increase; which services increase the companies’ value; and whether the official star rating influences the hotel's value. The research methodology is descriptive because it is intended to study the characteristics of a group of companies. Multiple case studies are used to make a convincing research and to allow comparability. Companies’ financial data was collected from the SABI Bureau van Dijk’s database. The results show that the group of hotel companies studied are economically feasible. On the other hand, hotel companies with a restaurant have a higher NPV compared to hotel companies without a restaurant.
