This report reflects the experience of 9 months of trainee, at the Carlton Madeira Hotel.
The first hotel of Pestana Group.
Madeira Island is known by the touristic potential. Therefore, it’s important to solve
problems that can affect the tourism.
In this not seasonality speaking Island, the importance we give to Hotels is huge. Big or
small, every Hotel unit or group has easy resolution problems. The Pestana Group is not
an exception.
The issues in management, lack of motivation, lack of training and problems with
understanding, communicate and competition are problems that lead the unit to worry not
only about satisfying costumers but also workers.
The report presents the importance of F&B department and human resources. Where to
act, where they fail, where they can do to improve the motivational issue and the
importance of the leaders to the correct hotel operation and correct relation between
leader and worker.
