dc.description.abstractO Dicionário As Mulheres e a Unidade Europeia pretende dar visibilidade às mulheres portuguesas e europeias que se dedicaram a pensar a Europa e a construção de uma unidade europeia durante os séculos XIX e XX. É de salientar que muitas mulheres, aparentemente desligadas desta Europa, aparecem nesta obra, porque os objetivos da sua ação, sobretudo lutando pela paz, acabam por contribuir, com esse pacifismo, para uma Europa unida pelos valores essenciais. Ao lado das grandes figuras europeias, conhecidas como pais fundadores, também vamos encontrar as designadas “mães fundadoras”, muitas delas menos conhecidas do que os vultos masculinos, mas igualmente marcantes, e que fazem todas parte deste Dicionário. O seu papel foi muito importante para os alicerces atuais da Europa e foi continuado durante todo o século XX até à atualidade, por muitas mulheres pioneiras que mereceram ser tratadas nesta obra.pt_PT
dc.description.abstractThe dictionary of women and European unity gives visibility to Portuguese and European women who dedicated themselves to thinking about Europe and the construction of European unity during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. It should be noted that many women, apparently disconnected from this Europe, appear in this work, because the objectives of their action, above all fighting for peace, end up contributing, with this pacifism, to a Europe united by essential values. Alongside the great European figures, known as the founding fathers, we will also find the so-called founding mothers, many of them less known than the male figures, but equally striking, and who are all part of this dictionary.
