Abstract(s)

The tourism sector associated with the culture by "cultural tourism" has presented an evident evolution in tourism in general (Cooper et al, 2007, p. 172). Based in the visit to built heritage resources, the cultural tourism has evolved to a new paradigm in the tourism offer, appearing a growing bet in the intangible resources (such as traditions, gastronomy, among others). In this bet it is included the creative tourism, a form of cultural tourism that "is mainly based in intangible resources, enhances an active and effective participation (co-creation) and of the tourist in learning ludic, cultural and artistic activities (...), being more and more the endogenous and intangible resources a factor of promotion and differentiation of the touristic destination” (Richards, 2009, Carvalho, 2011, in Santos, Carvalho e Figueira, 2012, p. 1561). At these touristic ways, the heritage and the arts appear as methodological strategies, promoting different attractions in touristic offers, envigorating creatively and artistically the touristic destinations. So, the festivals and several local events have had a fundamental role in the promotion of the cultural and creative tourism, enhancing this way a greater development of the regions. In this perspective, and in the ambit of a doctors degree in Tourism - Tourism, development and cooperation, Faculty of Tourism and Finance, University of Seville, the proposed article, intends to present a comparative study, in process, about the contribution of performative arts in the context of festivals, in the local touristic development. The two festivals in analysis are the Festival Andanças, in Portugal, and the International Festival de La Sierra, in Spain, using information gathering instruments to a quantitative analysis (questionaire) and qualitative (interview).
