Abstract(s)
terapeutas ocupacionais e à utilização do “Model of Human Occupation Screening
e Saúde Mental do Centro Hospitalar do Baixo Vouga (DPSM-CHBV) e perceber a
utilidade do MOHOST no processo da Terapia Ocupacional (TO), segundo a perceção
entrevista semiestruturada às TO do DPSM-CHBV. Posteriormente, realizou-se uma
análise estatística com o software “Statistical Package for the Social Sciences” (SPSS)
Resultados: Os resultados obtidos possibilitaram delinear o perfil do cliente
MOHOST no DPSM-CHBV.
realizados.
e desempenho ocupacional do cliente, o que potencia a intervenção do terapeuta
ocupacional.
Introduction: Currently, there is scarce information on the practice of occupational therapists and the use of the Model of Human Occupation Screening Tool (MOHOST) in the assessment of psychiatric patients in Portugal. Objective: To outline the profile of Day Hospital (DH) users in the Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health of the Baixo Vouga Hospital Centre (DPSM-CHBV) and understand the usefulness of MOHOST in the Occupational Therapy (OT) process, according to the perception of the occupational therapists. Material and Methods: An exploratory-descriptive case study with a mixed approach was conducted. Data were collected from 238 clinical files, the results of the MOHOST assessment, and a semi-structured interview to the OTs of the DPSM-CHBV. Subsequently, statistical analysis was performed with Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software and content analysis by Web Qualitative Data Analysis (WebQDA) software. Results: The results obtained made it possible to outline the profile of the psychiatric user and obtain the occupational therapists' perceptions of the usefulness of MOHOST in the DPSM-CHBV. The participants' limitations and potentialities were highlighted through the assessment of MOHOST, which is in line with previous studies. The occupational therapists refer to difficulties in the assessment of some of the items, but still consider the instruments useful and easy to apply. Conclusion: The applicability of this instrument was found to be useful in Psychiatry and Mental Health. It indicates the psychopathological interference in the client's roles, routines, habits, participation and occupational performance, which enhances the occupational therapist's intervention.
