perante a comunidade.
do património cultural.
The predominant role of technology in the social and cultural systems of communities often challenges local traditions and, at times, overlooks the collective memory associated with local culture. In this context, the present research project aims to emphasize the importance of preserving the local identity of the Aveiro region through contemporary graphic design, exploring the visual representation of traditional iconographic motifs within an identity system. Despite the growing cultural homogenization, there are still spaces that safeguard memories, reflect local identity, and foster dynamics that seek to understand the individual and collective experience of the community—such as traditional markets. Accordingly, the practical component of this project proposes a visual identity system for the Manuel Firmino Market, with the goal of promoting a space directly connected to the local culture of the region, while also strengthening the sense of belonging and identity within the community. The methodological approach is grounded in a qualitative and visual perspective, supported by theoretical research that seeks to encourage reflection on the role of contemporary graphic design in enhancing cultural heritage.
