This study highlights the importance of curriculum adaptation as a fundamental strategy to ensure equity in access to learning in inclusive education contexts. As part of the project, the traditional Amazonian legend of Cobra Honorato was adapted into an accessible format, using pictograms and principles of visual communication, with the aim of facilitating textual and narrative comprehension. The proposal aims to promote the participation and inclusion of students with Intellectual Disabilities and on the Autism Spectrum, through adapted educational materials. The research, of a qualitative nature, is based on document analysis and bibliographic review, addressing the legal framework of inclusive education, the fundamentals of Augmentative and Alternative Communication, and the contribution of Assistive Technologies to learning. The results show that the adaptation of traditional narratives in books with pictographic support favors the understanding of content, supports language development, and the apprehension of abstract concepts. Additionally, it values regional cultural identity and is configured as a consistent pedagogical strategy for reducing attitudinal, communicational, and pedagogical barriers in the school context.
