Abstract(s)
do Memorial IFRS Campus Sertão/NuMem.
necessidades do público-alvo.
abrangente e eficaz.
Communicational accessibility in museums is of paramount importance so that all people, including those with disabilities or specific communication needs, can have equal access to the cultural and educational heritage offered by these cultural institutions. This not only promotes social inclusion but also aligns with principles of equal rights and diversity. Another relevant aspect is that communicational accessibility in museums is constantly evolving due to advances in technology and changes in society. This research aimed to analyze accessibility practices on museum websites and present these findings on the Memorial IFRS Campus Sertão/NuMem website. To conduct this study, 20 museum websites that are part of the Ibermuseus Program and claim to have some accessibility practices were examined. These practices were evaluated based on a set of criteria established with reference to accessibility guides in museums, specialized websites on the subject, and web accessibility guidelines developed by the W3C consortium. Additionally, a questionnaire was administered to experts working in website development to understand to what extent accessibility practices are considered during the web page development process and whether these practices meet the needs of the target audience. The data collected, along with a literature review, suggest that museums are progressively adopting accessibility practices to promote more inclusive and equitable access to society. In this context, museum websites play a significant role in representing the institution and its collection, as well as serving as a resource to inspire, guide, or complement a visit, provided they facilitate communication and offer resources suitable for individuals' skills and abilities. Regarding the analysis of the accessibility of the Memorial website, the research demonstrated that, while some elements comply with accessibility recommendations, the page still does not fully meet expectations in relation to other aspects. However, it is important to highlight that ongoing policies seek to improve accessibility and are gradually being implemented to achieve a more comprehensive and effective standard.
