| dc.description.abstract | O projeto Às escondidas é que se descobre o mundo desenvolve uma investigação artística e teórica centrada na representação da mulher nas Artes Plásticas, articulando um diálogo com a História da Arte e a tradição popular da religião cristã, entendidas não na sua dimensão teológica e institucional, mas enquanto campo de apropriação simbólica e de construção de sentidos. A pesquisa incide na reconstrução do imaginário visual ocidental, considerando também as suas reverberações noutras geografias simbólicas. A figura feminina é abordada enquanto espaço de tensão entre delicadeza e brutalidade, evidenciando o contraste inerente ao universo feminino. Situada num território instável entre o sagrado e o profano, bem como entre objeto de desejo e de desprezo, esta condição paradoxal constitui o eixo de exploração do projeto. Propõe-se uma reflexão crítica sobre os mecanismos de representação e significação do corpo feminino ao longo da história. O projeto atua na ressignificação do desejo enquanto dispositivo de poder, reivindicando simultaneamente uma autoridade autoral feminina sobre a própria imagem. Através da reapropriação de representações historicamente produzidas sob um olhar masculino, as imagens são deslocadas para um campo de autonomia e pensamento crítico, reconfigurando o lugar de enunciação feminina e promovendo novas leituras. | por |
| dc.description.abstract | The project Às escondidas é que se descobre o mundo develops an artistic and theoretical investigation centred on the representation of women in the visual arts, establishing and articulating a dialogue with art history and the tradition of the Christian religion – understood not in terms of theology and institutional structures, but as a field of symbolic appropriation and the construction of meaning. The research focuses on reconstructing the Western visual imagination, whilst also considering its reverberations in other symbolic geographies. The female figure is approached as a space of tension between gentleness and brutality, highlighting the contrast inherent within the female universe. Placed in an unstable territory between the sacred and the profane, as well as between object of desire and object of contempt, this paradoxical condition forms the core of the project’s exploration. It proposes a critical reflection on the mechanisms of representation and signification of the female body throughout history. The project works to redefine desire as a device of power, whilst simultaneously asserting a female authorial authority over the image itself. Through the reappropriation of representations historically produced from a male perspective, the images are shifted into a realm of autonomy and critical thought, reconfiguring the space of female enunciation and promoting new interpretations. | eng |
