The study examines the historical origins, symbolic meanings, and artistic interpretations of Kukeri costumes and masks, analyzing their role in folklore and modern creative expressions. Additionally, it investigates picture books as a powerful medium for preserving and contemporizing cultural heritage, examining how visual storytelling can bridge the past and present. Utilizing a practice-based research methodology, the project involves the creation of a picture book that reinterprets these traditions through a modern design lens. By analyzing the intersection of folklore, design, and storytelling, this work highlights the significance of visual culture in cultural preservation and offers insights into the challenges and opportunities of adapting traditional narratives for contemporary audiences.
