Este relatório surge no âmbito do estágio curricular do mestrado em Gestão e Direção Hoteleira, na Escola Superior de Turismo e Tecnologia do Mar, em Peniche. O estágio decorreu durante 9 meses nas instalações do Hotel Vila D’Óbidos em Óbidos, no departamento de eventos do hotel. Esta formação em contexto de trabalho, teve como principal objetivo a complementação da formação académica, através da interação com uma unidade hoteleira onde fosse possível uma formação prática e a aplicação dos conhecimentos adquiridos ao longo do mestrado. O principal objetivo deste relatório passa pela compreensão do impacto que a realização de eventos tem na atenuação dos efeitos da sazonalidade nos meses de época baixa no hotel Vila D’Óbidos. Esta proposta surgiu após identificar que nos meses de época baixa havia muitos pedidos de realização de eventos, o que era sentido como uma mais-valia para aqueles meses, uma vez que a taxa de ocupação nestes meses sofria uma quebra considerável. A metodologia aplicada neste relatório consistiu numa investigação quantitativa, tendo por base a análise e consulta de documentos e a observação direta com recolha de dados durante o estágio. Neste sentido, foram identificados os meses de época baixa e quantificados os eventos realizados durante esses meses e o impacto que estes tiveram na faturação geral e mensal do hotel, durante os anos de 2022 e 2023, tendo como comparação o ano de 2019 (ano pré-pandémico). Através do tratamento da informação recolhida, foi possível quantificar e perceber melhor a importância que o departamento de eventos tem no Hotel Vila D’Óbidos durante os meses de época baixa e o seu contributo para a atenuação dos efeitos da sazonalidade durante esta época no que diz respeito à faturação.
This report is part of the curricular internship for the master's degree in Hotel Management and Direction at the Escola Superior de Turismo e Tecnologia do Mar in Peniche. The internship took place over 9 months at the Hotel Vila D'Óbidos in Óbidos, in the hotel's events department. The main aim of this work-based training was to complement my academic training by interacting with a hotel where I could get practical training and apply the knowledge I had acquired during my master's degree. The main purpose of this report is to understand the impact that organizing events has on the attenuation of the effects of seasonality in the low season months at the Vila D'Óbidos hotel. This proposal came about after identifying that in the low season months there were many requests to organize events, which was felt to be an added value for those months, since occupancy in these months suffered a considerable reduction. The methodology applied in this report consisted of quantitative research, based on the analysis and consultation of documents and direct observation with data extraction during the internship. In this sense, the low season months and the events held during those months were identified and the impact that these had on the hotel's overall and monthly turnover during the years 2022 and 2023, compared to 2019 (pre-pandemic year). By analyzing the information collected, it was possible to quantify and clearly understand the importance of the events department at Hotel Vila D'Óbidos during the low season and its contribution to mitigating the effects of seasonality during this time in terms of revenue.
