Oxytetracycline, considered an emerging contaminant, is one of the most used antibiotics in the shrimp industry for the care and control of bacterial diseases that affect the development of the crop of this species. The objective of this work is to evaluate the degradation of oxytetracycline in an aqueous solution by applying different advanced oxidative processes (POA). The quantification of the drug was performed by high efficiency liquid chromatography (HPLC), using a PDA detector at a wavelength of 354 nm and a C18 column. Homogeneous POA treatments (UV/H2O2 and Foto-Fenton) and heterogeneous treatments (photocatalysis with TiO2) were applied, using a bench reactor with shortwave ultraviolet lamps (UV-C). The conditions evaluated for the treatments UV / H2O2 and Foto-Fenton were, the dose of H2O2, exposure time to radiation of 120 minutes and addition of 1 mg.L-1 of Fe for the Photo-Fenton process. For the heterogeneous treatment, TiO2 adhered in Petri dishes was used as a catalyst, with an exposure time of 120 minutes. The kinetics of the process and the toxicity of the treatment were evaluated in the species Lactuta sativa and Daucus carota. The best results were obtained applying the UV / H2O2 treatment reaching a 97% of degradation under the initial conditions of a dose of 8 μL of H2O2 and 120 minutes of radiation. The kinetic model of pseudo-first order proposed by Chan and Chu was adjusted appropriately to the experimental results. The toxicity tests verified that for the species Lactuta sativa and Daucus carota showed a decrease of the radicular growth as the concentration of the treatment was increased, which presented a behavior similar to the negative controls.pt_PT
