- Ethical Leadership as a Discouragement Agent for Moral Disengagement and Unethical Behaviour in Cross-Cultural EnvironmentPublication . Alvez, Marlond Moored Antunez; Marques, Tânia de Matos Gomes; Ramalho, Nelson CamposSince the huge corporate scandals that impacted the world, authors keep reviewing concepts trying to identify what is missing on the ethical behaviour of managers, leaders and top executives in multinational corporations. Drawing on the Social Cognitive Theory of Bandura that explains the psychological aspect of the individuals and social interaction given by the ethical climate, we propose that ethical leadership downhearted individual’s moral disengagement preventing teams to behave unethically in cross-cultural environment. We empirically tested this theoretical framework by collecting data from 184 participants comprised in 39 teams across countries, prompted to answer a multi-source survey in dyads and in two different moments of time. The findings reveal that ethical leadership has an indirect influence on unethical behaviour avoidance by stimulating a good ethical climate and frustrating the moral disengagement of individuals. In addition, could be proved that organization ethical climate is not influenced by the corruption level of the country. All these findings offer theoretical and managerial implications that transcend the simply view of the ethical leader as a good manager, to a broader view of the ethical leader as an asset of the organization that not only improves ethics, but also performance and societal recognition.

- Networks, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer in Tourism Industry: An Empirical Study of SMEs in PortugalPublication . Lopes, João M.; Oliveira, Márcio; Lopes, Jorge; Zaman, UmerThe present study aims at investigating how the commercialisation and knowledge transfer be-tween the SMEs of the tourism sector and the higher education institutions (HEIs) are made, as well as to check if the SMEs of the tourism sector are part of the tourism networks, and what their mo-tivations are. We used a qualitative methodology, applying the triangulation method to eight SMEs and one HEI. The results indicate that the commercialisation and knowledge transfer between the SMEs and the HEIs are not effective. SMEs are part of regional networks of business innovation; however, they don’t participate in R&D activities with HEIs. Some suggestions were made to SMEs, HEIs, and regional governments to speed up commercialisation and knowledge transfer in the tourism sector. We adapted the Triple Helix Model to the tourism sector, thus creating the “Triple Helix in the Tourism Context”. Only a few studies have researched the knowledge commercialisa-tion in the tourism sector, a gap that this article aims to compensate.
- Comparative Study on Mechanical Strength of Acrylonitrile Butadiene Stereyne [ABS] and Acryonitrile Stereyne Acrylite [ASA] extruded filamentsPublication . Yadukumar; Matias, João ManuelThe effect of the key 3D printing manufacturing parameters [Infill pattern and Build orientation] on the influence of mechanical strength of two thermoplastic filaments used in Fused Deposition Modelling [FDM] or Fused Filament Fabrication [FFF] method. I e. Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene [ABS] and Acrylonitrile Stereyne Acrylate [ASA], which is touted as a potential successor to ABS were inspected in this academic work. From experimental findings, it tentatively suggested that the tensile, flexural, and compressive strength of the ABS specimens is consistently higher than that of the ASA specimen. The empirical findings of ABS purportedly show a lower variance and optimum reliability than in the case of ASA. Tension tests indicate the ultimate strengths for Y oriented ABS specimens are marginally highest. The minor variations in ultimate tensile strengths are relevant for all pairwise correlations for different orientations of the ASA specimens. The findings of the flexural and compressive tests are well correlated with the results of the tension tests, again signaling that the flexural and compressive abilities are relatively high for Y oriented ABS and Vertical ABS model, respectively. Another imperative observation that was voluntarily made while printing ASA is, it was more prone to warping when compared with ABS, as a broader trend, Y orientation, and Rectilinear Infill offered greater strength to the exposed parts investigated on both the materials. These experimental findings further indicate that the processing parameters, such as Build Orientation and Infill Pattern of the FDM specimens, directly contribute to impacting the mechanical strength of the tested materials
