- Turismo de Portugal: Relatório de estágioPublication . Ramalhete, Carolina Vieira; Jorge, João Paulo da Conceição SilvaThe sustainable development of tourism, essentially aimed at diversifying and preserving this activity in all its complex dimensions, presupposes a very strong and intervening role on the part of governments, through various public entities that contribute to this development through regulation, promotion, the study of impacts, among other objectives. In line with the topic that has always interested me, the sustainability of tourism in coastal areas, the public entity "Turismo de Portugal" was chosen to carry out the internship, and specifically its Department for Valuing the Offer - Department for Boosting the Offer and Resources. Within the scope of this department's activity and taking into account the interest in the topic of sustainable nautical tourism, it was agreed that the internship would essentially focus on monitoring the European project EU WeMED NaTOUR, in which Turismo de Portugal is one of the partners. This report first analyses the theoretical concepts related to the sustainability of coastal destinations and sustainable nautical tourism and, more specifically, the aforementioned project, which was innovative in its assumptions and objectives, aiming to develop a body of knowledge, and its implementation, in the field of good practices in the management of Mediterranean marine ecosystems as well as the respective coastal destinations, also highlighting the crucial issue of Environmental Education. The second part of this report describes the organisation and department in which the internship took place. It also describes the activities in which I had the opportunity to actively participate, what they consisted of and how I contributed to them. Finally, recommendations and conclusions are drawn about the project that was most relevant to the internship, as well as general conclusions about the internship as a whole.
