- Relationship Between Corporate Social Responsibility and Financial Performance: Evidence from French CompaniesPublication . Manso, Guilherme Miguel de Melo; Jorge, Maria João da Silva; Pélissier, DanielThis dissertation aims to analyse the relationship between corporate social responsibility (CSR) and financial performance in the French stock market over a five-year period, from 2019 to 2023, using companies listed on the CAC-40 index. The main objective of this study is to answer the question of whether CSR influences companies' financial performance, thus providing valuable insights not only for private companies, but also for investors and other stakeholders. The model used is a fixed effects model, excluding sector dummy variables. The results show that CSR is not statistically significant for the financial performance of French companies in the CAC-40 index. The variables used as proxies for financial performance were return on assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE). The ESG rating was used to assess CSR. Finally, company size and age were included as control variables
