- How customer expectations drive loyalty to food delivery app brandsPublication . Marques, Alzira; Lopes, Marlene; Santos, CéliaConsumers frequently use food delivery apps due to time constraints or the desire to explore diverse cuisines. These apps offer convenience and accessibility, but user loyalty is also shaped by factors such as ease of use, performance expectations, information quality, self-efficacy, and user enjoyment. This study analyses how user expectations contribute to brand loyalty in food delivery apps. A quantitative survey of 160 users was conducted, and data were analysed using structural equation modelling via Smart PLS. Results indicate that information quality and self-efficacy positively affect perceived ease of use; in turn, ease of use and self-efficacy influence performance expectations. Both performance and effort expectations significantly impact brand loyalty. Interestingly, information quality does not directly influence performance expectations, possibly due to users relying on external sources. The findings enhance understanding of user behaviour and provide insights for future research on digital food service platforms
- Validation of the Eight‐Item Paranoid Thoughts Scale (GPTS‐8) in Tunisian Arab AdultsPublication . Fekih‐Romdhane, Feten; Ghorbel, Ons; Laranjeira, Carlos; Cheour, Majda; Harb, Frederic; Hallit, SouheilBackground Growing research indicated that it is highly valuable and clinically beneficial to quantitatively measure and detect the potential presence of paranoid thinking. Among the various existing self-report instruments to measure paranoia, the Green et al. Paranoid Thoughts Scale (GPTS) was recommended as having the most well-defined, clearly articulated construct underlying its items, and the strongest psychometric qualities in general and clinical population samples. Yet, the psychometric performance of the GPTS remains unknown in the Arab language and culture. To address this gap, our study aimed to explore the psychometric properties of an Arabic translation of the shortest version of the scale (i.e., the GPTS-8). Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted. Data were collected during the period September 1st 2024 to January 31th 2025. A total of 552 Arabic-speaking general population adults from Tunisia aged 25.81 ± 4.86 years participated. Results Analyses provided support for a bidimensional model, with a first dimension referring to ideas of persecution and a second one corresponding to ideas of reference. The internal consistency reliability coefficients were high, with both Cronbach's alpha and McDonald's ω reported to be 0.83 for ideas of persecution and 0.83 for ideas of reference. Measurement invariance was established for both subscales, implying that the Arabic GPTS-8 measures the same underlying construct of paranoia in the same way across male and female respondents. Finally, paranoia scores correlated positively with psychotic experiences scores, indicating convergent validity, as well as with depression, anxiety and insomnia scores, supporting the concurrent validity of the scale. Conclusion By translating and validating GPTS-8 for the first time in Arabic, this study contributes to rendering the tool available to a broader array of clinicians and researchers who work with Arabic-speaking people. We believe the new Arabic version of the GPTS-8 will provide further encouragement to research and development in this yet-unexplored field among Arabic-speakers.
- Beyond Care: Family Health Nursing as a Promoter of Family Resilience and Coping; a Systematic Literature ReviewPublication . Monteiro, Rui de Oliveira Pires; Gomes, José Carlos Rodrigues; Caldeira, Ermelinda do Carmo Valente; Paulo, Marília Bettencourt SilvaIntroduction:The growing global aging population intensifies the burden on informal caregivers, particularly for individuals with chronic conditions. Family health nursing offers a model emphasizing relational care and psychosocial support, yet evidence on its impact on family resilience and coping remains fragmented. Objective:To map scientific literature on family-centered nursing interventions and their association with the promotion of resilience and family coping, acting on resilience and coping, which in turn function as mediators of care empowerment in informal caregivers and families. Methods:Following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, this systematic literature review included studies published between March 2015 and March 2025 in English, Portuguese, French, and German. Databases consulted: CINAHL, MEDLINE, Scopus, Web of Science, and Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection. Methodological quality was assessed using Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) tools, and data synthesis employed a metanarrative approach. Results:Seven studies were included: 1 systematic review, 2 scoping reviews, 2 qualitative studies, 1 quantitative study, and 1 opinion article. Interventions like psychoeducation, mindfulness, and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) promoted emotional regulation, reduced caregiver burden, and strengthened relational resilience, positively impacting the care recipient's quality of life. The metanarrative identified four themes: (1) Meaning-making through adversity (Benefit Finding and Posttraumatic Growth); (2) Relational and contextual mediation of resilience; (3) Transformative potential of psychosocial nursing interventions; and (4) The relationship between informal caregiver resilience and care recipient quality of life. Conclusions:Family-centered nursing interventions significantly enhance the psychosocial well-being and adaptive capacities of caregivers and families. Future longitudinal, methodologically robust, and culturally sensitive studies are needed to generalize these findings. Implications for Clinical Practice:This review highlights the importance of structured, family-sensitive interventions in family health nursing, promoting caregiver and family engagement, health system sustainability, and improved quality of life in long-term care.
- Cultural adaptation and content validation of the RAC (Rodríguez-Almeida-Cañon) adult infection risk assessment scale for portuguese from PortugalPublication . Martins, Mónica; Paiva-Santos, Filipe; Bom, Luís Todo; Dixe, Maria dos Anjos; Costeira, CristinaIntroduction: Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs) have been a concern in the healthcare field due to their impact on public health. Therefore, risk stratification of hospitalized populations, using validated instruments, is essential for implementing effective measures to prevent HAIs. Objective: Aimed to culturally adapt the RAC Infection Risk Assessment Scale (Rodríguez-Almeida-Cañon) for adult patients. This article describes the following steps: preparation, preliminary translation, back-translation, review of the back-translation, and content validation through a panel of experts. Methods: After translating and back-translating the scale using bilingual translators, content validation was carried out through a Delphi panel involving 11 experts in the field of HAIs, of both sexes, with clinical experience and/or previous involvement in infection prevention and control research. The items of the RAC scale were evaluated for clarity, theoretical relevance, and practical pertinence. La validez de contenido se determinó mediante el índice de validez de contenido. Results: Based on the feedback from the experts, there was consensus to retain the 15 assessment items, grouped into intrinsic and extrinsic factors. The Portuguese (Portugal) version of the scale achieved a 95% agreement level. Conclusion: The RAC scale proved to be valid in terms of content. The use of infection risk assessment instruments is essential for infection prevention, contributing to improved quality of care and guiding healthcare professionals’ interventions. To ensure the validity of the scale, a psychometric validation will also be conducted.

- ARRISCAR A VIDAPublication . - Contemporary challenges in foreign language learning in higher education: Rethinking the interactions between digital tools, cultural intelligence and cognitive load for a balanced active pedagogyPublication . Fidalgo, Susana; Delplancq, Véronique; Lopes, Ana Maria Costa; Pereira, José; Gillain, RomainThe use of digital tools in foreign language learning in higher education raises many pedagogical challenges, particularly in terms of the skills to be developed, vital for society and the labour world, while simultane ously managing the cognitive load of students. Based on the results of experiments carried out with undergraduate Media Studies students at the Escola Superior de Educação de Viseu(Portugal), the paper questions the effects of applying active pedagogies using digital tools upon the acquisition of these competences, with particular focus on cultural intelligence, while keeping students' cognitive load balanced. Results show that pedagogical activation can favour the development of diverse competences and cognitive processes, but presents risks, namely overload in the case of poorly planned activities. The article aims to contribute to the design of balanced, rich and cognitively sustainable pedagogical devices, contributing to an active pedagogy with the integration of the digital tools.
- Gamification to Enhance University Students' Resilience: Transforming Challenges into OpportunitiesPublication . Pérez-López, Isaac José; Navarro-Mateos, Carmen; Rosa, MarleneThis study investigates the impact of a gamification-based intervention on the resilience of university students, comparing it to a traditional lecture-based approach. In recent years, resilience has become a key factor in student well-being, helping them overcome academic challenges and personal difficulties. A quasiexperimental design was employed, involving 88 participants divided into an experimental group (EG) and a control group (CG). The intervention, inspired by the popular TV show Time Zone, integrated elements such as time management, emotional regulation, and problem-solving, all of which are essential for developing resilience. The resilience of participants was assessed using the CD-RISC 10 scale both before and after the intervention. Results revealed that the EG demonstrated significant improvements in resilience, particularly in managing adversity, achieving goals, and maintaining a positive self-concept. Conversely, the CG showed minimal changes, suggesting the impact of the gamification-based intervention. The findings highlight that students in the EG were better able to cope with stress, recover from setbacks, and achieve goals despite obstacles. This demonstrates that gamification can be an effective tool for enhancing emotional resilience and well-being, offering a compelling alternative to traditional educational methods. The results also suggest that future interventions incorporating gamification could lead to sustained improvements in student resilience. Furthermore, this study contributes to the expanding body of literature on gamification in higher education, emphasizing its potential to foster personal competencies and enhance learning outcomes.
- Tourist Preferences in Latin AmericaPublication . Santos, Eleonora; Carvalho, Milena; Martins, Susana; Carvalho, Ana Branca; Castro, Maria João; Mesquita, Anabela; Silva, PaulinoIn today's era of digital transformation, understanding tourism preferences is crucial for enhancing the travel experience. The way travelers get, analyze, and apply information to plan their trips has been completely transformed by information and communication technologies (ICTs). Features like accessibility, attractions , amenities, and prices influence travelers' choice regarding their destination and according to the Information Search Theory, travelers look up a lot of information in order to lower uncertainty and improve the quality of their decisions. This study examines the intricate interplay of factors influencing tourist preferences in Latin America, focusing on the role of hotel ratings, location, attractions, and accessibility. Drawing on regression analysis of data from Booking.com across six Latin American countries , including Mexico, Peru, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Brazil, the research identifies distinct tourist profiles and their preferences. Novel findings include a preference for lower-rated hotels among certain segments, a trade-off between accessibility and destination characteristics, and a prioritization of accessibility over the diversity of attractions for some travelers. These insights have significant implications for tourism management, suggesting targeted marketing strategies, product development initiatives, infrastructure investments, and collaborative partnerships to enhance the overall visitor experience and promote sustainable tourism development in the region.
