- Kinect sensor performance for Windows V2 through graphical processingPublication . Vargas, Javier; Mariño, Christian; Aldas, Clay; Morales, Luis; Toasa, RenatoThe present paper describes a study based on the loss and gain of frames that are obtained through sensors (color, depth, and body tracking) of Kinect V2. For this purpose, it is established a time to obtain each frames per second (FPS), evaluating a performance of sensors in three evaluation instances, using native Kinect V2 libraries and other graphic processing libraries. In addition, several experimental tests were carried out, in order to verify the best performance of a test application based on graphical processing of each sensor.
- Mobile Application to Encourage Local Tourism with Context-Aware ComputingPublication . Silva, Carlos A.; Toasa, Renato; Guevara, Juan; Martinez, H. David; Vargas, JavierThe mobile applications and context-aware or assistive technologies have the potential to improve living conditions in society. Nowadays the applications are of great help when the services or features that these offers are based on the context of the user, in the area of tourism many applications only offer to the people information of the place but it does not encourage the user to go to visit it, neither provides help or suggestion of which would be the best place to visit based on the current situation of the user. This work presents an application for Android operating system that uses the user context-aware, obtained through device sensors and the use of public APIs (Application Programming Interface), offering to the users suggestions of places to visit based on their context and encourage the user to visit more places, allowing them to interact quickly with the environment in which they are through the use of their mobile device.
- Performance Evaluation of NoSQL and SQL Queries in Response Time for the E-governmentPublication . Flores, Ana; Ramirez, Stalin; Toasa, Renato; Vargas, Javier; Urvina-Barrionuevo, Renato; Jose M. LavinSociety demands accurate, right, quickly and easy access information. Therefore, governments are forced to implements or improve information systems with modern technologies. This research work is focused on the research of responses times on relational and non-relational data base models in an experimental data base system provided by the Función Judicial del Ecuador. The data is migrated for load in NoSQL allotment, and the performance tests is obtained a document-oriented data model. With these tests we could know the best database, focusing all on response time of data queries that have been used on performance tests. In addition, we evaluate the performance before and after the relational database administration system (RDBMS), obtaining as a result that the first test of the queries made to MongoDB substantially surpass the queries made to SQL Server, but in the subsequent tests the times they tend to be similar.
