In this text, I attempt to reflect upon the available means for the elaboration of drawing strategies leading to the making of a tracing drawing. These strategies are based on the drawer’s choices, which in turn depend on their abilities as drawer and observer. I propose the tracing drawing as a type of translation and interpretation, which, through heuristics, is revealed as ancillary to other drawings.
